The Warren townsite was financed, planned, and managed by a corporation based in Upper Michigan’s Copper Peninsula. Mike will describe how businessmen from Calumet and Laurium, MI (as well as from other industrial centers) used their windfall profits from copper production in Bisbee to create a community in the Warren Mining District that was a symbol of technological progress and corporate benevolence. He’ll also explain how the windfall profits from Bisbee mines led to the creation a neighborhood of fabulously opulent mansions in Laurium in the Keweenaw Peninsula.
